The role of Wolves Aid, a charity set up by Sir Jack Hayward to help community groups in the city, is set to grow following Steve Morgan's decision to support the charity through his existing Morgan Foundation.
Over coming months, Wolves Aid will adopt the professional administrative systems used by the Morgan Foundation and once these are in place, the amount of money available for use within the city by Wolves Aid will increase significantly.
Set up in 1993, Wolves Aid has historically been funded by legacies, player donations and low key fund-raising activities. This has allowed the club to make grants to hundreds of local groups involved in the promotion of community projects within the city of Wolverhampton .
ORGANISATIONS WITHIN WOLVERHAMPTON WANTING TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT WOLVES AID SHOULD CONTACT RACHAEL HEYHOE-FLINT ON 0871 880 8442

Please do not contact the Morgan Foundation direct if your request concerns a community initiative within the Wolverhampton area.

SUPPORTED PROJECTS
In the season 2006 -2007 Wolves Aid finances had been boosted sufficiently by various fundraising initiatives to enable the charity to select three major projects. The charity donated £5,000 to Holy Trinity School in Kidderminster to create a Memorial Garden in memory of one of their pupils Kate Freeman (15 yrs old), a devoted Wolves fan who was tragically killed ½ mile from Molineux Stadium while on her way to a Wolves match.
Wolves Aid also gave £2,000 to a local special needs school, Penn Hall School to buy an abseil course for the children's adventure playground, built in memory of another Wolves fan and former pupil of the school Scott Lloyd who sadly died last year.
Wolves Aid also works with ‘Powerpleas' Wolverhampton wheelchair charity to provide specially adapted wheelchairs for local youngsters with severe disabilities; jointly they have donated 10 wheelchairs in the last decade. The latest recipient, again another Wolves season ticket holder, 10 yr old Jack Smith from Telford was paralysed in a road traffic accident 3 years ago, Jack needed a custom built wheelchair and a Matchday collection by Tettenhall Rotary plus players donations achieved the target. |
